NCU FM 5k Run / Walk 2016

Soooooooooooooo, I attended my first 5k, EVER, although I volunteered and didn't actually participate. It was fun and informative.

At the crack of dawn we went to Brooks Park, Mandeville, as volunteers where the run/walk would commence. Upon getting there I thought that persons weren't going to come out in their numbers, but closer to 7am the patrons came out in their droves.

Here are a list of things I did not know about a 5k:

. All ages are eligible on entering, including little kids.
. Cyclist can participate too.
. You can run OR walk.
. There are prices for categories other than running.
. Water is free.
. There is usually an after concert and entertainment.
. Many other large situations, corporations and bodies support.

This was NCU FM's first 5k and I must say they did well for a first try and it was well organized.

How to make Chocolate!

Hello Everyone,

I have waited a might long time to do this as I am on a new journey to live a healthier life diet wise. Before I get into the recipe and ingredient aspect of it, I want to share what exactly is chocolate. chocolate's main ingredient isn't chocolate firstly. Its main ingredient is actually Cocoa and cocoa is very, very bitter. It is a bean or a seed looking bean that comes from the Cocoa tree. It is housed in a cocoon looking fruit and seeded. I learned that chocolate and confectionery companies pack a whole lot of sugar into their chocolate. Cocoa is very, very bitter and to get rid of that bitterness you have to add lots of sugar and milk. At least when you make your own chocolate you can ddetermine how much sugar and milk you want to add.

Ingredients:
. Cocoa Beans http://amzn.to/2gtLfCn
. Condensed Milk http://amzn.to/2gLdv7K

Products:
. Mill (substitute) http://amzn.to/2fAkkUF
. Grease Paper http://amzn.to/2g54sgP

1. In total the cocoa beans I purchased from my local market was about 3 pounds I think. That is just an estimate. Initially the cocoa beans were a bit moist on the outside and because I had never purchased them before or knew nothing about them I had them sitting in the refrigerator for months. Every few weeks I would crack one and ensure it isn't spoiling. They were very fresh when I was ready for them regardless of how long I had them in the refrigerator.

 Cocoa Beans

2. I spread the Cocoa Beans into a baking tray and put them in the oven until I heard a popping sound. The popping sound indicates that the shell is breaking away from the actual seed that we will get our chocolate from.

 Roasted Cocoa Beans

3. After roasting, removing the shell is very easy. It reminds me a lot like shelling peanuts. When the shell of the cocoa bean was too hard to crack after roasting, I would set those aside and roast again until I had shelled everything.

Roasted Cocoa Beans, before and after

4. Now we will grind the roasted shelled cocoa beans. This grinder that I used was purchased in Guyana. I am not sure if you can find this easily where you are, but I did manage to find one online here at http://amzn.to/2fAkkUF. The first time I grind the cocoa beans into dust, the dust was very course. I realized that passing the course cocoa dust through the mill until it became soft, did the trick.

5.  Now it is time for the fun part. We are going to add milk and sugar to our cocoa to get what everyone knows as chocolate. With the little amount of milk and sugar I added, I actually made dark chocolate. I added 1 part condensed milk (which already has sugar), two parts cocoa cream and mixed the ingredients together.

Condensed milk

2 parts Cocoa

Mixing cocoa and condensed milk together

 6. It is time to microwave. I put it on 1 minute first, but because of the amount of cocoa and condensed milk, 1 minute was not enough. I put in 4 minutes additional on the microwave. You can play with your minutes depending on how fast or slow your microwave it. If you are not into microwaving food, you can cook yours in a pot over fire until everything melts together. I should let you know that cocoa beans have a natural oil and when grinded into a smooth texture it is nice and soft, but when left at room temperature overnight it clumps up and becomes dry, but the moment it touches heat and moisture it gets soft again.

7. After microwaving, stir until it becomes cool again.

Chocolate

8. Place chocolate on a flat surface that is covered with grease paper and spread chocolate into a thick sheet. Cover with another sheet of grease paper and flatten with a metal baking sheet for a smooth top.

9. Now refrigerate and then cut ass desired.

Christmas Carol Inspired DIY Collab | DIY fix a broken Night Stand Door

Hello Wonderful People,

Last year December, I was invited by a lovely group of ladies on a YouTube Collaboration and I was invited again this year. Here are the details on this year's collaboration:

Title: Christmas Carol Inspired DIY Collab |(Name of DIY)

Time Limit: 3-5 minutes

Content: What is your favorite Christmas Carole? Well, do a Christmas DIY around it.  It can be CLASSY OR WACKY.  Tell us which one it is in the video.   And have fun!  It is Christmas time!!! Here is another fun idea...if you appear on camera, you have to wear an  UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER.

Items used in this DIY:
. Industrial Adhesive (alternative) http://amzn.to/2fRI3mW
. Q-Tips http://amzn.to/2fpAkIL
. Butter Knife http://amzn.to/2f7oCaz
. Hammer http://amzn.to/2fS7d4L
. Pair of Socks http://amzn.to/2gmCpr2

Truth be told, I don't decorate for Christmas, but I do fix stuff and one of the things I fixed was the night stand door that my son broke off. Not sure how he managed that, but he did.

1. After taking a thorough look at the door I saw where the person who built the night stand actually glued the original make of the door into the section that the other door had broken off from.

2. With some industrial glue and a q-tip, as I don't have a tiny paintbrush, we will apply a thin layer of industrial glue to the exposed parts of the broken door both on the door itself and on the part that is exposed on the night stand.

3. Both sides that the glue was applied to were allowed to set for 10 minutes, because that is how industrial glues work best. After 10 minutes was up I took the door and let it attached it back to the section it broke off of.

4. Now that the door is in, we want to knock it in, with a hammer and a pair of old socks the door will fasten better with the adhesive when hit in. I used the socks to rest on the surface that I will hammer as I don't want the night stand to be damaged further with scratches.

Well. I am not sure how well the brand adhesive I used holds up to wood, but the door is still in tack. I hope you enjoyed this DIY, more like tutorial. Haha. Please don't leave without checking out the other ladies' videos.

How to start a Healthy Lifestyle | The Truth about Eating Healthy | Live a Better Life

We go through so many phases in our lives where when we get to our current phase, in many cases we never imagined being there. Today my current phase is living a healthier life in the way and what I eat. I guess a lot people aren't going the healthier way just because they think it is just another thing to do, but we all have our reasons.

Products mentioned in this blog:
. One-A-Day Women's Multivitamin Tablets http://amzn.to/2fW6g8a
. Cod Liver Oil Capsules http://amzn.to/2f0vJwl

I want to start by talking about refined sugar. I have a major sweet tooth and over the years I have indulged a little too much in sodas, sweets, just to name a few. Foods with or that are solely refined sugars or processed foods could be so bad for us as they provide little or no nutritional value. When we consume these foods, especially at high rates our bodies aren't absorbing any nutrition from these foods and thus when diseases coming lurking our bodies cannot defend itself against these diseases.

Processed foods can range from sausages to cup soups to juices made from syrup and colouring. I always wanted to eat healthy, but kept bouncing back and forth because I just couldn't help myself, but my bad diet habits have caused me to have issues such as chronic recurring yeast, awful chest burns, feeling lethargic, etc. I noticed that eating and drinking was affecting me also and I discovered this one day when the Holy Spirit said to me that I should just eat and not drink anything afterwards. I obeyed and did as recommended and noticed a big difference in how my body responded. Since then I have not been eating and drinking, because it makes me extremely gassy. Also, I read a very interested article on the correct way for eating fruits. It will amaze you. Click here to read that article.

Popular YouTuber, The Chic Natural's hair all of a sudden up and started getting long and thick. Her hair was always average and seemed as though it couldn't grow pass or advance pass the stage it was at. Many of her Subscribers noticed and requested a video of her telling about what she was doing that had gotten her such excellent results. She mentioned 4 things and one of those things were how healthy she has been eating and I believe this because she turned vegan prior to this rapid hair growth. In her diet, she doesn't eat canned foods, processed foods, etc. Even before The Chic Natural came out with this I was contemplating a Vegan diet anyway, just because I know that it is better.

Some may ask, why veganism? I say yes to it because animal products nowadays is just packed up with so many things that aren't good for our bodies. Don't believe me? Check the facts. This is not a research article, so I won't get into the technicalities of it right now. The way I have chosen to eat for the time being, is just better.

Right Now I am not working, but I am managing somewhat with my new diet. The name of my business is Roti Darling and for some very rational reasons I closed the business temporarily. Until then I am introducing news about my eBook. Many persons have been asking me about my YouTubing experience and I have decided to write about it and show others how they too can earn a living from YouTubing.

All the things I talk about can be found in links below.

I will end with my new venture. Selling hair. Hair is a billion dollar industry and I signed up with www.luxuryhairdirect.com/join/by/josephinedenny to sell hair. It is pretty basic to sign up and start selling. With each purchase someone makes you earn 15% of that purchase and what is better is that when someone who has signed up through you makes a sale you earn 5% of that sale also. Even when  someone signs up third party you earn 2% when they make a sale. It is most def a win, win, situation.

Buy or sell hair!

The Benefits of Eating Fruits on an Empty Stomach

You know, I have been having many issues with how I eat. Firstly, I find it if not always or almost impossible to eat without drinking. The activity is so satisfying in the beginning, but indeed bitter in the end. I thought the cause of being so gassy after meals was a result of just eating bad food, but then I knew something was wrong, because I eat a lot of healthy meals and the same thing kept happening.

I could remember one day, I had a meal and it was a reasonable amount. Usually, even if I eat a small portion of food, I would pack my stomach with soda or juice or bottled beverages. That day after I ate I just felt the Holy Spirit telling me to just hold on the beverage. So I did. Amazingly, my body did not react negatively as it would usually do when I eat and drink or even overeat. Ever since I have been eating just amounts to satisfy my being hungry and waiting about half hour to one hour before having a beverage.

After I started practicing this new diet, I got the information below in a WhatsApp group and it made so much sense:

Eating Fruit on Empty Stomach

This will open your eyes! Read to the end and then send it on to all on your e-list. I just did!

Dr. Stephen Mak treats terminal ill cancer patients by an "un-orthodox" way and many patients recovered.

Before he used solar energy to clear the illnesses of his patients, he believes on natural healing in the body against illnesses. See his article below.

It is one of the strategies to heal cancer. As of late, my success rate in curing cancer is about 80%.

Cancer patients shouldn't die. The cure for cancer is already found - *its in the way we eat fruits.*

It is whether you believe it or not.

I am sorry for the hundreds of cancer patients who die under the conventional treatments.

*EATING FRUIT*

We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths.

It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and *when* to eat the fruits.

What is the correct way of eating fruits?

*IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS!*

*FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH*

If you eat fruits on empty stomach, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

_FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD._

Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit.

The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so due to the bread taken before the fruit.

In the meantime the whole meal of bread & fruit rots and ferments and turns to acid.

The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil.

So please eat your fruits on an *empty stomach* *or before your meals !*

You have heard people complaining :

Every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc.. etc..

Actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on _an empty stomach._

The fruit mixes with the putrefying of other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat !

Greying hair, balding, nervous outburst and dark circles under the eyes all these will *NOT* *happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.*

There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter.

If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the *SECRET of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.*

When you need to drink fruit juice - *drink only fresh fruit juice,* NOT from the cans, packs or bottles.

Don't even drink juice that has been heated up.

Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all.

You only get its taste.
Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice.

If you should drink the fresh fruit juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it.

You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse or detoxify your body.

Just eat fruits and drink fresh fruit juice throughout the 3 days.

And you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look !

*KIWI fruit:*
Tiny but mighty.
This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

*APPLE:*
An apple a day keeps the doctor away?
Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby _helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke._

*STRAWBERRY:*
Protective Fruit.
Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging and free radicals.

*ORANGE
Sweetest medicine.
Taking 2-4 oranges a day may _help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer._

*WATERMELON:*
Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which _helps boost our immune system._

They are also *a key source of lycopene the cancer fighting oxidant.*
Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium.

*GUAVA & PAPAYA:*
Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content.

Guava is also rich in fiber, which _helps prevent constipation._

Papaya is rich in carotene; this is _good for your eyes._

*Drinking COLD water or drinks after a meal = CANCER*

Can you believe this ?

For those who like to drink cold water or cold drinks, this article is applicable to you.

It is nice to have a cup of cold water or cold drinks after a meal.

*However, the cold water or drinks will solidify the oily stuff that you have just eaten.*

*It will slow down the digestion.*

*Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food.*

*It will line the intestine.*

*Very soon, this will turn into FATS and lead to CANCER !*

_*It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.*_

Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive.

A cardiologist says:
if everyone who gets this mail sends it to 10 people, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life.

AFRO KINKY CROCHET Natural Hairstyle on a 2 Strand Twist Out PIN UP

Hello Everyone. Now I have a confession. I am obsessed with long hair and I always wanted to get ground breaking information on how I could grow my hair longer without using a chemical straightener.

I follow The Chic Natural on YouTube and I realized that all of a sudden her hair just started getting longer than it usually could and thicker. She finally came out and said that one of the reasons for that is because of the many protective styles that she has been wearing. Although I am not a fan of protective styling, I do believe that it can aid in allowing your hair to grow longer. You can watch her video called How To GROW HAIR Long, Thick & Healthy FAST! (4 easy steps) by clicking here.

I chose to use the Afro Kinky hair, because I wanted this style to resemble my natural hair as best as possible.

Products used in this tutorial:
. Afro Kinky Bulk in the colour 1B 12" http://amzn.to/2eRyHDG
. Afro Kinky Bulk in the colour 1B 20" http://amzn.to/2fLdJbk
. Crochet Latch Hook Needle
Vinandra Health Solutions Shea Butter Hair and Scalp Oil (Call 1876-829-2430 to purchase)
. Shampoo Comb http://amzn.to/2eRFU6l
. Comb http://amzn.to/2g4QUTY
. Jumbo Hair Pins http://amzn.to/2evVU2N
. Hair Brush http://amzn.to/2fOlWKZ

1. I started on freshly washed hair and oiled my scalp to prevent drying out after this protective style will be applied. I used Vinandra Health Solutions Shea Butter Hair and Scalp Oil to moisturize my scalp.

2. I like to massage my scalp when I am done oiling it. My scalp hurts easily and massaging it helps reduce that tender feeling. I had envisioned doing a pin up after applying this crochet so I left out a row of hair to the two sides and back of my hair at the base of my hair, so that that hair could hide as best as possible the crochet in my roots.

3. I cornrowed the section that I would leave out temporarily and begin the cornrow for the crochet. The cornrow for the crochet was done in a spiral style. I am amazed I got my hand to turn and twist in all those motions. For the hair that was left at the extreme back of my head that was not apart of the spiral style, I cornrowed those in a snake and ladder fashion.

4. Now it is time to apply the hair by crocheting it in. Please note that this is not a 'How to Crochet Hair Method' tutorial, so if you are not too keen on the crochet method, please feel free in looking it up. I used 1 small pack 12" Afro Kinky Bulk Realistic in the colour 1b by Bijoux and 1 regular pack 20" Afro Kinky Bulk Realistic in the colour 1b by Bijoux. I purchased the 12" by accident and wished I had gotten at least 2 regular size packs of the 20" instead, but I made it work.

5. To the back and sides I crocheted in the 12" hair first with a Crochet Latch Hook Needle and when I ran out of the 12" hair I put in the 20" hair.

6. After all the hair has been added. We will take average sized sections, detangle completely, trim and two strand twist tightly.

7. Some of the twists got long strings to the ends when I was done, so I put the ends in a loop and carried the hair around and around until it was done to get a curly effect to the edges when those twists gets let out.

8. For each twist we will dip in very hot water in order for the twists to set.

9. Let Twists out after they have been hot watered for Pin Up. I also let out the hair I had let out at the base and brush in an upward position.

10. For the actual Pin Up I grab a big section of the back, roll it upwards like a french roll and pin down.

11.After the back has been fixed I pin the two sides down.

12. When it comes to the front I ensure I pin it forward in order to hide my crochet roots.
